Treatment
There is no cure for Fragile X Syndrome but there are many treatments to help your child. For instance, you can enroll your child into speech and language, occupational, and physical therapies in order to help with the effects of Fragile X Syndrome. Here are some examples of what you should do to help their behavioral problem: have a regular routine;avoid over-stimilutaion; use calming techniques such as breathing, mental visualization, meditation, and exercise. When your child becomes aggressive, hyper, or has a seizure, medication should help to stop these behaviors. With FXS, it is important to note that your child might have the following health problems: frequent ear infections, seizures, strabismus, mitral valve prolapse. If you guys didn't know, strabismus is a disorder in which the two eyes do not line up in the same direction. Having strabismus, or cross-eyes, means that your child looks at two different directions. Mitra valve prolapse is a heart problem in which the valve that separates the upper and lower champers of the left side of the heart doesn't close properly. In terms of education, having your child integrated in regular education whenever possible is essential for the child.
